William H. Duncan, 77-year-old Conway attorney, and Mrs. Duncan, today celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary at their home on Duncan Street. It was a quiet celebration with no extra formalities.

Mr. Duncan, former Faulkner County and probate judge and later mayor of Conway, and his wife, the former Miss Florence E. Stensiek, were married near Vicksburg, Miss., Dec. 30, 1890.

The Conway couple are the parents of four daughters and two sons, Mrs. B.B. Fairman, Miss Gene Duncan, Mrs. Roy C. Gillenwater, Mrs. Richard Offett, Joel W. Duncan and Seth V. Duncan. They have nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Six Faulkner County boys each killed a deer Saturday while hunting with their fathers in Desha County. They were Charles Swaffar, 9, son of Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Swaffar; Curt Floyd, 10, son of Mr. and Mrs. Neil S. Floyd; John Ferguson, 14, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert L. Ferguson; Sam Mahan, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mahan of Damascus; Amos Palmer Jr., 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Amos Palmer; and Bill Ferguson, 12. Young Palmer’s deer was the largest with eight points.

Cadron Post chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, has announced Rachel Christine Dennis of Vilonia as the local winner of the NSDAR Good Citizen scholarship essay competition. She has been entered in the state competition, and after that may be entered in the national competition for a $3,000 scholarship.

Cadron Post chapter awards the local winner of the scholarship competition a $50 U.S. savings bond.
