Miss Sue Moore McCollum entertained with a miscellaneous shower and party at her home on Mitchell Street Tuesday afternoon, complimenting Mrs. Howard Montgomery, a recent bride. The interior was beautifully decorated in holiday colors and after a social period a dainty dessert course was served. The honoree received some lovely gifts.

50 years ago

Tomorrow is to be observed as Student Recognition Day at First Methodist Church. Church school, 9:40 a.m. The Rev. Raymond W. Fisher will conduct the morning service at 10:50, assisted by Guy Jones Jr., Tim Faris and Marsha Black.

Five generations of the Irene Gotcher family gathered recently for a Christmas celebration at the Greenbrier home of Sandra Bowman. Attending were Christie Mobbs, great-granddaughter; Mrs. Bowman, granddaughter; Verple Baker, daughter; Ashley Mobbs, great-great-granddaughter; and Mrs. Gotcher, all of Greenbrier.

Clay Hickey of Conway was presented an autographed Austin electric guitar by Allen Weatherly, executive director of the Arkansas Educational Television Network. Clay’s entry was randomly drawn from postcards sent in to the Blues Guitar Giveaway during the Arkansas Blues Exhibit at AETN. The guitar was donated by Back Beat music in Jonesboro and signed by bluesmen Michael Burks and Robert Jr. Lockwood.
