(1938)

Members of the Log Cabin Democrat editorial and mechanical staff today were literally “fogging at the mouth.”

Fogging with smoke we mean.

The Hendrix College Profile, student weekly, had a box of cigars sent to the office early today.

Later in the morning the Conway News, genial neighbors and members of the profession, sent another box.

To all we say “thanks.”

50 years ago

(1963)

Cotton ginnings in Faulkner County to Dec. 1 (1963) totaled 6,123 bales, according to the Bureau of the Census. This was in contrast to 4,777 bales ginned to the same date last year.

(1988)

Howard “Short” Arnett, post commander Billy J. Benefield, auxiliary president Freda Robinson and Mary McNair packed food items into baskets yesterday at the Jesse W. Grisham Post No. 2259, Veterans of Foreign Wars. The food, which will be distributed to eligible families, was collected by members of the post and the ladies auxiliary.

Brownie Scout Troop No. 254 from Ellen Smith Elementary School made Christmas cards Dec. 18 to be donated to the Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.

The cards were to be given to children who will not be able to go home for Christmas this year.
