75 years ago

(1938)

The children of Mrs. Radley’s private school had a Christmas tree party at school this morning. After singing carols and playing games, they exchanged gifts from a decorated tree. Mrs. Radley told the children the story of “The Youngest Reindeer of All.” A Christmas tree centered the room. Brick ice cream, toy shaped cookies and lollipops, representing on of the seven dwarfs, were served.

50 years ago

(1963)

The sun rose in a cloudless blue sky today, but there was enough snow on the ground to assure a white Christmas even if no more falls. And none is predicted. Five inches settled on Conway Sunday.

25 years ago

(1988)

Katy Montgomery, daughter of Jim and Patty Montgomery of Conway, won the all-around title in her division in a recent meet in Ruston, La.

Teams from Louisiana and Texas participated in the meet. In winning the title, Montgomery won bars and vault and was second on beam and floor exercises.

(2003)

Conway Mayor Tab Townsell lent his support as 20th Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney H.G. Foster presented State Sen. Gilbert Baker the Advocate of Justice Award from the Arkansas Prosecuting Attorney Association on Monday at City Hall. Foster said Baker received the award because of his work on legislation that benefits law-abiding citizens and victims of crime.
