(1938)

Miss Alleen Ott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Ott, has been selected as a nominee in the Wildcat band queen selection for this year at Abilene Christian College in Abilene, Texas.

The girl winning the position will be given a specially made uniform and will accompany the band at all appearances. She will also be guest of the band on its annual week’s tour of Texas early in the spring.

50 years ago

(1963)

Suzie Mabry, a senior at Conway High School, will represent Conway in the fifth Arkansas Junior Miss Pageant Dec. 28-30 and Jan. 3-4 at Robinson Auditorium at Little Rock.

Miss Mabry, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Billy S. Mabry, is sponsored by the Conway Council of United Commercial Travelers.

Margo Dunaway of Conway is the reigning Arkansas Junior Miss.

25 years ago

(1988)

Anita Martin, daughter of Bill and Judy Martin of Conway, recently received first place in the Northwest District Home and Garden Club essay contest. She also won first place in the Conway Home and Garden Club contest. Her essay will now be entered in a contest at the state level.

Jim Stone Elementary students Sydnie Ross, Justin Johnson and Bryce Wolfe marveled at the size of a limousine that they were riding to lunch in on Thursday. Ten students who wee the top sellers of the school’s recent Innisbrook fund-raiser were treated to a limo ride to lunch at Mazzio’s. A big-screen vision allowed a viewing of “Finding Nemo” as the students rode to lunch.
