Children of the beginner’s department of the First Methodist Sunday School were delightfully entertained in the social rooms at the church Friday with a party and Christmas tree given by the leaders, Mrs. Ivan H. Grove and Misses Mary Mitchell, Marie Stapleton, and Mabel Norman. Games were played Christmas stockings filled with candy were given as favors. Gifts were distributed from a pretty tree, given and decorated by Mrs. Joe Gibbons. Ice cream sandwiches were served.

Miss JoAnn Vogan bride-elect of Robert Holyfield, was honored at a bridesmaids’ luncheon Saturday at Tommy’s Restaurant by Miss Pat Lachowsky. Co-hostesses were Mrs. Albert Lachowsky and Miss Ethel Henderson.

Miss Vogan presented each of her attendants with a gift.

Among the guests were Mrs. Jerry Holyfield and Mrs. T.L. Vogan, mothers of the engaged couple. Miss Vogan received gifts of china in her chosen pattern from the hostess.

Marine Sgt. Eldee Harper, son of Pearle and Eldee Harper Sr. of Mayflower recently reported for duty at Marine Corps Air Station El Toro, Santa Ana, Calif.

(2003)

James C. Brodman of Conway has been named to the dean’s list for academic achievement for the spring 2003 semester at Washington University in St. Louis in the school of engineering and applied science.

Brodman is a Conway High School graduate.
