75 years ago


A rock formation containing 100 or more petrified peanuts was recently discovered on Wilson mountain, near Otto, in southeastern Faulkner County, according to W.A. Bailey of Vilonia, who brought specimens of the curious formations to the Log Cabin Democrat office. Mr. Bailey said it was theory of some that the peanuts which had turned to stone were grown by Indians centuries ago.

Mr. and Mrs. Coy Turner moved into their new home on College Ave., last week. The Cape Cod type brick home has four bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, living room, family room, kitchen and utility room. An intercom system reaches into each room and includes FM-AM radio and recorded music. Turner a salesman, also has an office at the rear of the house. Mr. and Mrs. Robert H. Carter purchased the Turners’ former home on Ash Street.

Several residents of northern Faulkner County reported light snow last night in the Greenbrier area, although there was no official confirmation of the precipitation. It was the first report of snow received by the Log Cabin Democrat this winter.

Conway Christian School students in grades three through eighth recently participated in the Association of Christian Schools International State Spelling Bee at Word of Outreach Christian Academy in Little Rock. Sarah Hill, a fifth-grade student, won the state championship and will advance to regional competition in Dallas.
