Fox: The Fox's Den

Posted: October 7, 2013 - 5:11pm

Step into my den, pull up a comfy chair and a cup of tea and let’s chat.

Homecoming week in Greenbrier was fun for students, parents and everyone. Not only did GHS win in a close game, but the queen was crowned, the weather was perfect, the band was spectacular in their new uniforms that arrived that very day and the cheerleaders knocked themselves out with greatness. I don’t know how that littlest one does so many flips and still stands up afterward. Awesome!

GHS is in full swing collecting food for a food drive until Friday, Oct. 18. There will be a competition between second period classes to see which class can bring in the most food. The winning class will get a pizza party. Times are tough for many who need food, so if you can help, get it to the high school. They are also having a blood drive Oct. 18.

Volunteers are needed for the 2013 Soaring Wings Half Marathon Oct. 26 — not only on the event day but also in the days leading up to the event. Soaring Wings students attend Greenbrier schools and need your support. They do three fund raisers per year, and this is their last. You can run, walk or just volunteer to be a part of the fun. There is a job for everyone. Come help support the Ranch at this fun event. I will write more about Soaring Wings very soon. Follow this link to volunteer: http://www.swhalf.com/volunteer/

Up for sale at 11 a.m. on Oct. 11, will be 19 E. Main St., on the corner in Greenbrier. A public auction will take place at the front entrance door of the Faulkner County Court House, with the sale going to the highest bidder, according to commissioner Rhonda S. Wharton of the Faulkner County Circuit Court. Be there if you got bucks!

I’m sorry to see Sweet Temptations leave our city; but you can find Reba Holland’s sweet and delicious chocolate temptations in the Pickles Gap Fudge Shoppe. She closed her wholesale location in Greenbrier to focus more on retail.

Nov. 3 is when daylight saving time ends. Don’t say I didn’t warn you early! Angel trees are coming soon. My new red camera was quite busy this week, so be sure to check out thecabin.net.

Till next time, give me a call or drop me a line if you have something newsworthy.

(Please send Greenbrier news, questions, comments, or suggestions to BJ Fox in The Fox’s Den at  greenbrier@thecabin.net or bjfox2005@windstream.net or call 501-679-3690.)
