GREENBRIER — The annual Harvest Hoe-Down party at the Greenbrier Nursing and Rehab Center was a hit with young and old as they played games, ate chili, bid on the silent auction, painted faces and played Bingo. More than 100 guests from tiny babies to the over-90s joined the residents and staff. Some had their faces painted. Others had their photos taken with spider webs and scary ghosts and sang along with Rick Martin’s guitar sing-a-long. A chili supper was enjoyed by all.
Dorothy and Cecil Bivins have lived there about three months and enjoy all the parties the best. They are celebrating 63 years of marriage and have been in three other nursing homes since coming here from Lake, Texas. They said, “We like this one the best, because we can play Bingo, go to museums and have parties like this. This is our first Halloween party.”
Administrator Stacey Ussery says, “Our staff and guests all enjoy the parties and are now looking forward to our annual Christmas party. We usually have carriage rides for everyone then and it’s always a big hit.” The Center is located on Wilson Farm Road across from Greenbrier City Hall.
