SEARCY — Conway Christian rallied to defeat Harding Academy for the second time in volleyball this season Monday night.
The Lady Eagles won, 17-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-18, 15-11.
Lyndi Dather had eight aces, five digs, seven kills and a block. Katelyn Helms added eight aces, one dig and four kills. Adrianna Ferrand had an ace, five digs and nine kills. Elizabeth Kennedy had two aces, two digs and eight kills. Autumn Jones had 18 digs. Other leading efforts were by Megan Ledbetter, Sarah Shelton and Shelby Shelton.
“This was a very tough game,” said CCS coach Suzanne Feimster. “Harding came out ready to beat us. Our girls were very passive and not playing their game in the beginning. After they realized Harding wasn’t going to be a pushover, they stepped it up and began to play aggressively. We came back from being down 0-2 and won the last three sets. I am very proud of how the girls fought back to prove they have what it takes to win.”
Harding Academy won the JV match, 25-15, 17-25, 15-11.
Top players for the Lady Eagles were Savannah Stacks, Gracie Hill, Kylee French, Katie Gambrell and Jessica Nunn.
HENDRIX WOMEN’S SOCCER
The Hendrix College women’s soccer team (5-3-1) recorded their third shutout of the season by blanking Bacone College, 3-0, at Warrior Field on Monday night.
Sophomore forward Samantha Lallas recorded a goal and two assists and sophomore Sydney King had two goals to lead the Warrior offense.
Sophomore keeper Rachel Zweig recorded four saves in goal and junior Arianna Hart recorded a team save as well. Kyrie Stump had for saves for Bacone.
Hendrix will open Southern Athletic Association play on Saturday when they host Millsaps College at 6 p.m.
HENDRIX WOMEN’S GOLF
TUNICA, Miss. — The Hendrix College women’s golf team, with three competitors, competed at the Rhodes Collegiate Classic at The Links at Cottonwoods. The Warriors did not qualify for team competition.
Junior Kelsi McClure finished 22nd overall with a 110-96 — 206. McClure, from Huntsville, recorded two birdies in the final round Monday. Sophomore Trilby Gibson finished 27th with a 153-136 — 289. Freshman Claire Spence shot a first-round 91, but had to withdraw due to an injury.
RUTH DOYLE VOLLEYBALL
The Ruth Doyle Middle School’s seventh-grade girls volleyball team lost the A game Simon Monday night to Ray Simon, 25-21, 25-22. . Asiyha Smith and Kate Freyaldenhoven had four aces apiece, while Blaklee Scott had three kills and two digs.
The B team won, 26-24, 25-22. Jessica Watson led all players with eight aces.
