For the first time since the bank opened for business on July 1, 1933, deposits of the First National Bank of Conway crosses the million-dollar mark, Harvey C. Couch, Jr., president, announced today.
At the close of business yesterday the bank’s deposit stood at $1,018,727.72. Last fall’s peak was about $100,000 below the figure, deposited a higher prevailing price for cotton last year, Mr. Couch said.

Carolyn Fagan and Janice Clements are co-editors of the Wampus Cat, the yearbook at Conway High School. Becky Joyner is the business manager. Approximately 25 students are on the staff.

Opera star and 1976 Hendrix College graduate Susan Dunn belts out a high note Friday during the rededication ceremony of Staples Auditorium and Greene Chapel at Hendrix. The two buildings, built in 1951 and combined by a common lobby, were renovated during the 1987-88 school year at a cost of $1 million.

Rachel Parks, 2002 Greenbrier High School Homecoming Queen, crowned Kelsey McCuan as the 2003 homecoming queen Friday night in Don Jones Stadium at Greenbrier High School. McCuan is a niece of Shane and Sandy McCuan. Other members of the court were Amanda Burgess, Stefanie Gardner, Kristy Black, Robin Grumbles, Jackie Carter and Meghan Ford.
