This cooler weather sure feels like Fall has arrived. I hope the Fall colors are as beautiful as they were last year. One of our favorite places is the huge cemetery at Harrison. I don’t remember the name of the cemetery, but it was covered with the beautiful maple trees in their gold and orange splendor. Thousands tour each day.
To all you old International Shoe Co. workers — Folks, it’s time again for our annual get-together and potluck. We will meet at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, at Naylor Fellowship Hall in Naylor, Ark.
If you have worked at the “shoe factory,” come on and be with us, it’s always so good to see everyone, and see how much we have changed, how much older we have gotten. Come and bring a friend with you.
I’m glad to report some of our sick people are feeling better. Bobi Hendrickson said she is feeling better. Brenda Firestone is some better. Marian McGinty had bones in her back cemented. She is some better. Earnestine Newberry is better. Her sister, Jean Melton, and daughter came from Camden, Ark., last week and cleaned Earnestine’s house.
Ray and I weren’t able to attend church Sunday. Glen Henderson is much better, and attending church. I hope and pray we will all be back in church next Sunday.
Betty Applegate’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Tony, Shawna, Emilee, Katie, Breanna and Avin, visited her last Sunday afternoon.
Some of our family visited last Sunday, John and Sherry, Brett, Laney Raye, Haven, Bart, Amanda, Haley, Henry, Charles and Samuel Sellers, the McKissacks, Marshal, Amy, Jackson, Grant, Carter and McKinley.
Have a good week and enjoy this weather.
Only God can deliver us, and He wants us to know that.
Centerville United Methodist Church will hold its Sunday morning service, Oct. 6, at Woolly Hollow State Park. Hopefully the weather will remain as beautiful as it has been this past week and we will see a good crowd. There will be a potluck cook out at the pavilion following our Sunday morning service and we welcome you to attend. The leaves are already beginning to turn and it will be a good time to soak up some of the beauty of the Centerville community.
Kaylee Freeman turned 13 last Saturday and we now have two teenagers in the house. She had some friends come home with her Friday afternoon to stay the night and celebrate with her. Kaylee likes for her special day to last longer than a day so she celebrated Friday and Saturday, then we went shopping and had a birthday lunch on Sunday. Time sure has flown by because it seems like just yesterday that we brought her home from the hospital.
Todd and Kellie Cardin came by one day last week and picked up Darrel and me for a Jeep ride. I have ridden in many Jeeps but never with the top and doors off. The weather was sunny and beautiful and the company could not be beat. I am thinking I know what my next car is going to be.
Have a great week and enjoy the beautiful weather of early fall in Arkansas. If you have news for the Centerville Community Corner section of the Log Cabin Democrat, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
