GREENBRIER — Small Engine Power business requested a special use permit for the property located at #5 N Broadway, across from the Greenbrier fire station. They want to store some of their larger tractors outside the building because they would be too large to move indoors.
Their plan is to open for sales of lawn mowers and small tractors and eventually repair those items. The request was granted with a condition they would leave the driveway area as is without paving. It is currently a gravel area. The Committee felt if the area were paved, there could possibly be drainage problems that can be avoided by leaving the gravel.Pastor Freddie Mark Wilcox requested a special use permit for Life Song Baptist Church to use their property at 10 Church Street "for church use.”
Since "church use" does not appear in any of the zoning codes for the city, the church wanted to make it clear they would be using this residential property for Sunday School rooms, youth meetings and two offices for their Pastor and Youth.
When asked if they intend to pave any area for parking, the response was "only if we have a problem finding enough parking in the future." In that event, they were advised to come back with a survey that showed space allocations and proper drainage.
Since their newspaper and neighborhood notices were in order and there were no objections, the request was unanimously granted. The Greenbrier Planning Commission meets the third Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Municipal Building located on Wilson Farm Road.
