LITTLE ROCK — Conway’s Lady Cats powered past Little Rock Parkview, 25-4, 25-3, 25-5, Thursday night in volleyball.
Madison McNew had eight kills for the Lady Cats (11-3, 3-2). Sara Nethercutt served 11 aces.
Conway won the JV match, 25-7, 25-0.
Chloe Brinkley had five kills and Madison Arnold, 12 aces.
Shiloh Christian took a straight-set victory over Greenbrier in volleyball Friday night.
Hayley Heacox and Courtney Madden were both perfect on serves for the Lady Panthers. Kenzie Batterton had six blocks and four kills. Payton Starkey and Kobie Hartman were assist leaders. Makenzi Burrow added four kills.
Greeenbrier won the JV match, 25-21, 26-24.
Savannah Baker was five of five on serves with four kills. Maranda Clendinin had seen assists and five kills. Hartman was perfect on serves with seven assists. Sarah Langston was perfect on serves and Harlie Langston had 10 kills.
“The girls played hard. Our defense improved throughout the game,” said Greenbrier coach Cindy Hartman. “We made progress in many areas that will hopefully help us throughout the season.”
The University of Central Arkansas volleyball team opened Southland Conference play Thursday night with a 3-0 victory over new member Abilene Christian.
The Sugar Bears (8-3, 1-0) defeated the Wildcats (4-5, 0-1), 25-15, 25-19, 25-18.
Jessica Nagy had 11 kills while hitting .400 for UCA. Heather Schnars added 10 kills and had five aces. Marissa Collins dished out 40 assists while adding six digs, two kills and an ace, and Shelbee Berringer dug a match-high 11 balls on the defensive side.
UCA returns to conference play at 2 p.m. Saturday against Incarnate Word.
