GREENBRIER—Woolly Hollow State Park was the setting for the respectful flag retirement ceremony of over 40 old and worn United States flags. County Judge Allen Dodson opened the ceremony. Other dignitaries present were Mayor Melton Cotton, State Representative Stephen Meeks, Justices of the Peace Randy Higgins and Damon Edwards, Fire Chief Cody Hiland, and Greenbrier Boy Scout Troop 435. Taps was played for the retiring flag at the Park and Bagpiper Rick Stapleton from the Conway Fire Department played for the presentation of worn-out flags. Because of the burn ban in effect, a special permit was used to burn just one of the old flags. The others will be burned once the ban is lifted.
