Conway golf teams were victorious Monday in a nine-hole, dual golf match with Hot Springs Lakeside at Nutters Chapel Golf Club.
The CHS boys fired a 154 to Lakeside’s 176. Grayson McEowen led with a 37, followed by Lincoln Hill, 38; Josh Wheeler, 39; Carter Cloe, 40; and Whit Parker, 42.
Conway White golfers scoring were: Clay Bradshawn, 39; Grant Risiner, 44; Kyle Sanson, 47; Michael Taff, 47; Dylan Smith and Luke Baker, 48; and Preston Lemons, 53.
Conway’s girls combined for a 142 to Lakeside’s 149. Alexis McDaniel led with a 45, followed by Emily Lock, 48; Meghan Smith, 49; Logan Tolliver, 50; and Anna Turner, 51.
Conway White came in at 164. Those scors were: Brynn Lea, 54; Savannah Baker, 57; Catherine Brown, 59; Bailey Hawk, 60; Whintey Hill, 63; and Annas Dixon, 72.
UCA’s Angles fourth in Minnesota
INDEPENDENCE, Minn. — University of Central Arkansas junior Pep Angles tied for fourth on Monday at the University of Minnesota Gopher Invitational.
Angles, from Barcelona, Spain, shot rounds of 72-70-67 for a 4-under 209 at Windsong Farm Golf Club. His final-round 67 was the low round of the day and helped the Bears to a ninth-place finish overall.
New Mexico won the tournament at 848, followed by Baylor (854), Kent State (857), California (859), Minnesota and Iowa State (865), Notre Dame (870), Penn State (875), UCA (889), Michigan State (894), Toledo (904) and St. Johns (Minn.) (909).
UCA sophomore James Newton shot 76-73-73222 and tied for 35th, while freshman James Stevens shot 78-76-74-228 and tied for 46th place. Senior Richard Farmer tied for 57th (82-79-73-234) and sophomore Wes Harris tied for 62nd (80-77-83-240).
Kent State’s Corey Conners was medalist at 206, three strokes better than Angles.
Two top fives give UCA second-place finish
LINCOLN, Neb. _ Two Top 5 individual performances propelled the University of Central Arkansas Women’s golf team to a second-place finish at the University of Nebraska 2013 Chip-N Club Invitational at the Wilderness Ridge Golf Course on Tuesday.
Junior Malin Senneryd finished third overall, shooting 73-71-74 for a 2-over 218, edging out sophomore teammate Sarah Brown in fourth place at 75-71-73_219. UCA finished with an 892 total, trailing only host Nebraska (874).
UCA junior Kendra Bishop finished tied for 25th (76-86-72_234), while sophomore Frida Svensson was 30th (86-72-78 — 236). Freshman Elisa Axelsen tied for 31st (79-78-80 — 237).
Following Nebraska and UCA was Wichita State in third (901), followed by Iowa (910), Missouri State (922), North Dakota State (926), UMKC (941), Houston Baptist (948), Nebraska-Omaha (967), Southern Miss (969), South Dakota (976), Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (977) and Creighton (996).
Faulkner Falcons volleyball
The NEACHE Eagles from Jonesboro defeated the Faulkner County Falcons homeschool volleyball team, 25-14, 25-22, 20-25, 25-22.
The Falcons also werent undefeated in a round-robin tournament in Jonesboro.
Falcon team members include Victoria Gerbholz, Anna Lawrence, Landry May, Lindsey
Morrison, Marissa Payne, Lauren Pharr, and Madison Thornton.
