The University of Central Arkansas, after a 38-24 loss to Colorado, dropped from No. 7 to No. 8 in The Sports Network poll of FCS teams.
North Dakota State remained No. 1, followed by Eastern Washington, Montana State, Towson, Sam Houston State, South Dakota State and Northern Iowa.
CBC plans fundraising golf tournament
The CBC Mustang Classic Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, Sept. 16, at Nutters Chapel Golf Club in Conway.
The tournament format will be four-person scramble and will begin with shotgun starts at 8 a.m and 1:30 p.m.
Entry fee is $100 per golfer/$400 per team and includes greens fees, golf cart, refreshments, a catered lunch, and player gifts.
Smith Ford and Harwood, Ott & Fisher, CPA’s have teamed to sponsor a 2014 Ford Mustang as a Hole-In-One prize and Conway’s Garry Crockett will be cooking up barbeque for lunch.
The player registration deadline is Wednesday, Sept. 11.

UCA Schnars gets volleyball honor
After a week in which the Central Arkansas Sugar Bears won the 2013 UCA/Sears Sugar Bear Classic while dropping just one set in four matches, sophomore outside hitter Heather Schnars has been named the Southland Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week.
The Downey, California native led the Sugar Bears (6-1) with 45 kills on the week. She hit .380 and averaged 0.77 aces per set in Central Arkansas’ victories over Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Jackson State, UL-Monroe, and UT-Pan American. Schnars had a match-high 11 kills against UAPB, as well as a career-best nine aces. Against Jackson State, Schnars hit .483 with 17 kills, and she tied for the team lead with nine kills against UL-Monroe. She closed out the tournament with eight kills and six digs against UT-Pan American.
