Three 17-year-old players from Conway and one 16-year old competed with 17U and 16U teams at the USA Baseball National Team Identification Series in Cary, N.C.
The 17-year-old players were: Jacob Adams, (middle infielder), Mitch Jones and Conner Williams (pitchers) and 16-year-old Bubba Carter, (pitcher).
The Midwest Regional teams represented Arkansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Missouri and Kansas. The Midwest teams competed against 14 other regions from across the country in the three-day event at USA Baseball National Training Complex.
Adams, Jones and Williams joined seven other Arkansans to complete the 18-man MidWest roster beating teams from Mid-Atlantic, Northern California and Northwest Regions Carter and five other 16-year-olds from Arkansas beat teams from the Southwest, Southern California and North-Atlantic Regions.
The Conway players’ performances helped the Midwest teams go 6-0, beating all opponents. In addition to playing three nine-inning games, the players participated in team practice at Duke University and were individually tested for defense, batting, speed and agility.
On Sept 13, USA Baseball Selection Show will stream live on usabaseball.com announcing eight players selected from the field of 280 who competed in the NTIS event to join the National Team representing the United States in internationally sanctioned events.
