The Rev. Anthony Lachowsky today accompanied his nephew, Clements Lachowsky, son of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Lachowsky of Conway, to Philadelphia, where the latter will enter the university of the Holy Ghost Fathers to begin study for the ministry. The Rev. Lachowsky will then go to Norwalk, Conn., for the ordination of his brother, Frederic Charles Lachowsky, on Sept. 15. They will return immediately after the ordination to Conway, where the Rev. Frederic Lachowsky will celebrate his first mass at St. Joseph Church Sept. 18.

Arkansas State Teachers College has been selected by a large number of Conway students to be their alma mater. This group of freshmen includes John Voss, Mary Jane Eaton, Linda Tackett, Billy Hardin and Margo Dunaway. ASTC opens its fall term next Monday.

Wendell Wallace of Conway took the lead on the first lap and held off a charge from C.J. Pauschert of Carlisle to win the 30-lap late model feature during the stock car championships Saturday night at Tri-State Speedway in Fort Smith.
Wallace used a chassis made by the Greenbrier Racing Team.

Diana Burks, 22, will become the first woman to join the ranks of the Conway Fire Department on Sept. 15. Being a firefighter has been a dream of hers since her early teens, and she’s very excited about the opportunity.
Burks graduated from the University of Central Arkansas with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish, which will be another useful skill to the fire department.
