Complimenting Miss Alleen Ott, who is leaving soon to enter Christian College at Abilene, Texas, and Miss Julia Dell Stevenson, who is leaving soon for Little Rock to make her home, Misses Melba Cox and Winnie McHenry entertained with a card party in their honor Friday evening at the home of Miss Cox on Carter Street.
Miss Stevenson won the high score prize. The guests of honor were each presented a lovely gift.

Charles Merriman has been named assistant county agent in Faulkner County, succeeding Fred Kurpjuweit, who moved to Sharp County as an associate.
The announcement was made today by J.O. Hill, veteran Faulkner County agent.
He is married to the former Shirley Henze of Conway and they have three children, Lisa, 3, Tina, 2, and Charles Edward, 1.

Nina Laughlin, daughter of Dave and Linda Laughlin of Conway, recently completed a two-week internship at U.S. Sen. David Pryor’s office in Washington, D.C.
She is a granddaughter of Archie and Nina Laughlin of Conway.
Miss Laughlin, a 1988 graduate of Conway High School, is a freshman at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro and serves as president of the Arkansas chapter of the Future Farmers of America State Presidents Conference in Arlington, Va.

Jon Mark Rowden, 10, of Greenbrier, won the 10 Open and 12 Novice competitions at the United States Tennis Association tournament in Hot Springs Village on Labor Day weekend. He also recently won the 10 Open at Fairfield Bay. He is a son of Mark and Danielle Rowden.
