The Rev. Ira A. Brumley, executive secretary of the North Arkansas conference board of Christian education, left today for Boulder, Colo., where he will represent Arkansas Methodists at a national youth conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, Aug. 30 to Sept. 4.

The City Council last night elected Wade M. Etheridge to fill the unexpired term of Third Ward Alderman Coleman S. Gordon whose death occurred last February.
Gordon’s term expires Dec. 31.
Etheridge, 47, is a retired civil engineering employee of the United States Air Force. He is a graduate of Greenbrier High school and has lived in Conway since 1945.
Etheridge will take his oath and assume his position next Monday.

Candi S. Humphrey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.D. Humphrey of Conway, recently completed training at American Airlines flight attendant training school in Dallas.
Miss Humphrey is a 1986 graduate of Conway High School and attended the University of Central Arkansas.
She is based at the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport.

Conway High split girls and boys tennis matches against Bryant on Monday at Little Rock’s Rebsamen Tennis Center.
The Lady Cats won 3-1. Bryant won the boys match 2-0.Conway swept all three singles matches. Kelly Magee downed Elizabeth Norton, 8-2; Domi Pilippe defeated Allison Yarbery, 8-3; and Emily Adams downed Lauren Heavrin, 8-2. The Lady Cats doubles team of Martha Walchek and Paige Kimbrough lost 8-3.
In boys play, Bryant’s Skyler Stott defeated Conor Russell, 8-2, and the Hornets’ Heath Henderson defeated Joseph Forehand, 8-2.
