A.L. Roberts, 66, of the Beryl community, sat atop the first bale of cotton ginned in Faulkner County in 1963. Roberts picked over a five-acre field. The bale weighed 505 pounds. He has been farming 42 years, but this year was the first he had a first bale. The cotton was ginned at the Enderlin Bros. gin.

Dana Barnett has joined the Conway office sales staff of the AAA Arkansas Automobile Club.
The firm, at 2301 Washington Ave., offers club memberships and automobile insurance through the Auto Club Inter-Insurance Exchange. AAA-Arkansas Automobile Club is part of the 30-million-member American Automobile Association and has 11 offices in Arkansas.

Kelsey Lack, daughter of Eric and Sherry Williams and the late James Lack, recently attended the National Cheerleaders Association Camp at the University of Central Arkansas, where she received the All-American Mascot Award and the NCA Best Mascot 2003 Trophy. This was Lack’s first year serving as the Greenbrier Panthers mascot.
