Dr. and Mrs. N.E. Fraser have bought the S.E. Newton residence, 1301 Clifton St., from G.L. Bahner. The consideration was not announced. The Frasers plan to remodel and improve the residence and when completed will make it their home.

Vilonia won the Boys Baseball Association of Arkansas Little League championship Saturday night at Rosedale Park in Little Rock by twice defeating Huggins Drug of North Little Rock.
Vilonia blasted out 26 hits to whip Huggins Drug, 11-1 and 10-6.
Members of the team are Tommy Lambert, Billy Martin, Charles Clements, Joe Barnes, Terry Sanders, Roger Martin, Roy Hartwick, coach, Ricky Rhodes, Barry Dallas, Garry Dallas, James Baker and Michael Parks.

Father Frederic Lachowsky, a native of Conway, will celebrate the 50th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood with a Mass of Thanksgiving at 10:15 a.m. Sunday at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
The Rev. Lachowsky attended St. Joseph School and the Holy Ghost Fathers Seminary in Cornwells Heights, Pa. He is a son of the late Adalbert and Mary Rumker Lachowsky. He was ordained Sept. 15, 1938, at St. Mary’s Ferndale in Norwalk, Conn., and celebrated his first Mass on Sept. 18, 1938, at St. Joseph’s.

Conway Housing Authority resident and volunteer Liza Webster picked out backpacks Friday for students who live in the housing authority. The housing authority purchased backpacks filled with school supplies for 48 students who live there. The annual event helped prepare the youngsters to return to school Monday.
