Holland Baptist Church
Brother Chad Brandon is doing a great job leading Holland Baptist Church into new areas of growth both spiritually and numerically! His couples Sunday school class is overflowing and must have new space in which to meet and study. On Sept. 4 he will begin leading the Wednesday night prayer time and Bible study which Jim Johnston has been leading. We appreciate Jim’s leading during the time of an interim pastor.
Brother Chad is preaching encouraging messages from the book of Ephesians on Sunday mornings and leading in Sunday night Bible study. We’re so thankful God sent him our way!
Twenty-two ladies enjoyed food and fellowship at Market Place Grill Aug. 6. The following we had a large gathering of children at the church for the Back to School Bash. They enjoyed inflatables, snow cones, popcorn, hot dogs, a cake walk on which every child received a cake, and just plain fun after music and a devotional lead by Brother Chad in the sanctuary. Nina Johnston was in charge of food and Diane Cummings of the events.
Twelve men enjoyed the monthly breakfast prepared by the breakfast crew. We were thrilled to have a good number of students in each age group this past Wednesday night. Again this year we’re beginning our time in the sanctuary worshipping in song, followed by a meal, and ending with bible study. Diane Cummings is the Wednesday night coordinator. Teachers are Delores Haynes, Dianne Cummings, myself, and Betsy Petty who is teaching the youth. Janie McGaha is the Wednesday night food coordinator with Megan Damron as her assistant. We’re thankful for every worker and child who make Wednesday night happen as God provides.
We are praising the Lord for answered prayer! We were so excited to find a good used van which we purchased. Howard Cummings is recovering nicely from surgery. We continuing to pray for Bobie Hendrickson, Shelley Brandon, and many others with special needs. We pray for the salvation of many who don’t know Christ as Savior. Finally we’re praying for our students and teachers to have a good school year.
We serve an awesome God!
Bethlehem Baptist Church
God is good!! He is continually blessing Bethlehem and her people. Services are good and we continue to see many visitors every time we meet. Vacation Bible School was a success and we thank all who were involved in this ministry. All of our mission team members returned home safely from Peru, Chicago, and Washington.
In our quarterly business meeting we voted to enclose a portion of the pavilion to allow for more storage for the Food Pantry. Having more space will allow for us to pick up extra orders from the food bank to have on hand. Monday (19th) will be our regular Food Pantry day. Distribution begins at 2-5 p.m.
We welcome to the Bethlehem family David and Diane Brooks and Randy and Sherry Phillips who joined with us this past Sunday.
Youth Monday Night Madness for our youth and visitors is scheduled for Monday evening from 5:30 to 8:30. There will be games and fellowship. This is for 7th grade to Senior in HS.
Men, if you are reading this and it is past 7:30 a.m., you have missed the Men’s Fellowship Breakfast at Immanuel in Greenbrier. If earlier, you still can make it.
We offer our sympathy to Cloedean Scroggins and extended family in the loss of her mother, Ruby Cotton, this past week. Also to Jeff Riddle and family who lost his grandmother, Hester Hall, this past week.
