Delightful weather prevailed here today as the mercury remained below the 80-mark for the first sub-normal temperature in more than a month. Frequent showers have occurred since yesterday afternoon, with .35 inch recorded up to 7 a.m. today and .59 inch from that hour until noon. Maximum temperatures both Saturday and Sunday were 96 degrees.
Showers were forecast for the entire state tonight and Tuesday.

Mrs. Robert Barnard was honored with a pink and blue shower, Saturday night at the home of Mrs. Mary Ellen Barnard at Mount Vernon. Mrs. Marie Barnard of Conway assisted. Refreshments were served. Guests were Mrs. Young and daughters of Rosebud, Mrs. Betty Ray, Mrs. Emma Harris, Mrs. Junior Fason and daughter, Mrs. Hubert Casey and daughters, Mrs. Jim Loyd, Mrs. Veotta Nolen, Miss Winona Free, Joyce and Francis Stoker, all of Mount Vernon and Mrs. Mary Garrison of Conway.

Organizers of the St. Joseph Bazaar estimated today the 1988 version of the 76-year-old fund-raising event probably netted about $93,000 for St. Joseph School.
Ray Kordsmeier, Jr., owner of Kordsmeier Furnitire Co., who served as co-chariman of the event with Dennis Lock, owner of Best Western Kings Inn and Restaurant, said final totals probably will not be available until October, but the estimate “should be pretty close.”

Conway running back Peyton Hillis (6-foot-2, 240 pounds) has no intentions of making an early decision.
Hillis has scholarship offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Colorado, East Carolina, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Tennessee.
He’s also being evaluated by Florida, LSU, Ohio State, South Carolina and UCLA.
Hillis is being recruited by Arkansas assistant Danny Nutt.
