One of the first surgical patients in the new city hospital after its completion and installation of new equipment was Postmaster H.D. Russell, of Conway. He was highly pleased with his experiences there.

O’Neal Sims, of Conway, and native of Greenbrier, is joining the staff of Central Arkansas Production Credit Association here.
Jimmie Ligon, manager, said Sims would become head of the accounting department. Sims will succeed Don Stephens, who recently resigned to go to Santa Monica, Calif.
Sims and his wife, Margie, and daughter, Ginny Lynn, 3, reside on Clifton Street.

Promoted to the rank of Sergeant — William R. Porter, of Conway, a member of Headquarters Company, 212th Signal Battalion at North Little Rock; and Silas K. Owens, of Conway, a member of Detachment 1, 239th Engineer Company at Russellville; Richard E. Cooper, of Mayflower, a member of Headquarters Service Company, 1st Battalion, 114th Aviation at Camp Joseph T. Robinson at North Little Rock; and Joseph E. Hill, of Conway, a member of Company D, 39th Support Battalion at Morrilton.

The Arkansas Tomboys, a 16-and-under competitive team, recently won the USSSA state tournament, then finished fifth among 34 teams in the USfastpitch World Series at Panama City, Fla. During the season, the team compiled a 31-8 record and finished third in the ASA A Division tournament at Hot Springs. Local team members are Shannon Pickard, Jana McCollum and Amanda Burgess, all of Greenbrier; Jessica Sanders, of Conway; and Emily Matthews, of Vilonia. Coaches were assistant coach Nolan Allen; head coach Sam Sanders, of Conway; assistant Stan Stewart, of Guy; and Dal Burgess, of Greenbrier.
