A collection of social and religious books from the library of the late Chancellor W.E. Atkinson of Conway, valued at about $1,000, which had been donated by Mrs. Atkinson to Ouachita College of Arkadelphia, was taken by Pres. J.R. Grant to the college Saturday. Judge Atkinson at the time of his death had been a member of the Ouachita board of trustees for the entire 49 years of the school’s existence, most of the time being chairman of the board.

Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Hanna of Vilonia will observe their Golden Wedding Anniversary Sunday June 2 at their home. Friends are invited to attend between the hours of 2 and 5 p.m.

Three Faulkner County men, all of whom are members of the Arkansas Army National Guard, have been promoted recently.

Michael R. Smith of Conway was promoted to the rank of private first class in Troop E, 151st Cavalry.

Wayne Leising of Greenbrier was promoted to the rank of private 2 in Detachment 1, Headquarters Company 39th Support Battalion.

Edward G. Paty of Conway was promoted to the rank of sergeant in Company D 212th Signal Battalion.

Vilonia’s Ashley Kirkpatrick signed with Central Baptist College to play volleyball this fall. Joining Kirkpatrick in the signing were her parents Ken and Sherie, CBC volleyball coach Tommy McMillan and Vilonia volleyball coach Karla Ault.
