(1938)

Mrs. H.L. Clark was hostess to the Home Study Club last Thursday afternoon at her home on Prince Street, with Mrs. G.W. Hovis, president, presiding. Sixteen members were present. Mrs. A.C. Sharp was leader for the meeting. She presented Mrs. L.A. Smith, who gave the devotional, after which Mrs. Sharp gave an interesting article on “Monuments of Money.”

The hostess, assisted by Mrs. E.T. Black, served a dainty plate carrying out a St. Patrick’s day motif with shamrock favors. Mrs. F.B. Johnson and Mrs. L.H. Carter were guests for the meeting.

(1963)

Three one-cast plays, “Pinch Me,” “Wildcat Willie Gets Brain Fever,” and Hillbilly High Jinks,” will be presented at 7:20 p.m. each night, Thursday and Friday, at Guy-Perkins High School.

The cast includes Benny Wiedower, Cheryl Grothusen, Jannett Smith, Ruth McFarland, Jean Fielder, Sharon Glover, all seniors, and William McFarland and Hershel Wilson, juniors.

(1988)

Tara Graddy of Conway, competing for River City Gymnastics of Little Rock, was second in the all-around competition last weekend in a meet at Oklahoma City.

Two other Conway gymnasts, Sara Swaim and Rachel Fleming, placed in the meet. Swaim was eighth all-around, ninth in the vault, eighth on bars and seventh on beam. Fleming was ninth all-around, seventh in vault, ninth on beam and ninth in floor exercises.

Seven members of Cub Scout Pack 458 recently received their Arrow of Light Award on Feb. 6. They were Bryan Bradley, Austin Miller, Zachary Mullican, Jeffrey McNabb, Jon Michael Jernigan, Dakota Porter and Travis Hoyle. The boys also crossed over into the Boy Scouts on that date. Scoutmaster Jesse Hatfield of Troop 534, Scoutmaster Marlin Partney of Troop 71 and three other Boy Scouts were there to receive the boys into their troop.
