• March 11 — Sayantani DasGupta will present “Our Bodies, Our Stories,” part of the Hendrix-Murphy Foundation Programs in Literature and Language series exploring the theme of “Literature and Medicine,” at 7:30 p.m. in Reves Recital Hall on the Hendrix College campus. A book signing and reception in Trieschmann Gallery will follow. The event is free and open to the public.
• March 12-13 — Conway Regional Medical Center and the American Red Cross will host the next blood drive on Tuesday, March 12, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Wednesday, March 13, 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Auditorium of the hospital. Donors are encouraged to make an appointment to help with the wait time to give blood. All those with an appointment should be seen first. Appointments can be made by going to redcrossblood.org and enter sponsor code CNWREG. The system should accept online appointments through Sunday prior to the blood drive. Conway Regional Medical Center is located on College Avenue, one block west of the intersection with Donaghey Avenue.

• March 15 — The Arts Transforming Education, with Bill Strickland, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the University of Central Arkansas. There is no charge for participants and the day includes lunch. All the day’s events take place on the UCA campus.
• March 15 — The Community Action Program for Central Arkansas (CAPCA) will hold a public hearing at 1:30 p.m. The hearing will be held at CAPCA’s administrative office located at 707 Robins St., Suite 118, in Conway. They will discuss plans and funding priorities for low-income persons in Faulkner, White and Cleburne counties.
• March 16 — The Holland Park Clean up will be held 8 a.m. to noon. Individuals are asked to bring rakes, weed eaters, chainsaws, etc., to help in the clean up. If it rains, the clean up will be held on Saturday, March 23.
• March 16 — Savvy Caregiver course, Learning to Care for Self and Care-giving Strategies. The class will be held from 10 a.m. to noon in Room 232 of the Doyne Health Science Center at UCA. The Science Center is located at 201 Donaghey Ave. The class is designed to help caregivers better understand dementia and to cope with the difficulties involved in caring for loved ones who are suffering from Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. • March 16 — Central Arkansas Polio Survivors support group will meet at 10 a.m. at the community center in Heber Springs, Ark., located at 201 Bobbie Jean Lane. This is the 75th anniversary of March of Dimes and the support group wants individuals to share with them their experience with March of Dimes as poster Child, help with braces, shoes, etc.

• Weekdays — After School Program, 3:30-6 p.m. This free program is for ages 12-16 and provides a snack and programs in fitness, nutrition, safety, drug and alcohol awareness, career choices and even tutoring. • Sundays — Bearers of Light, a free support group for families that have experienced pregnancy loss, stillbirth or newborn death, meets the second Sunday of each month. The support group is an extension of the Resolve Through Sharing bereavement program at Conway Regional. The perinatal bereavement program is designed to addresses a family’s individual needs through supportive care in the hospital as well as follow-up care. Bearers of Light is a parent-led, self-help group guided by professionals who attend the meetings to provide information and facilitate group discussion. • Tuesdays — Conway Women’s Chorus begins its seventh year of music, fun and fellowship. If you have basic music reading skills, like music from classical to Motown and everything in between, this is the group for you. Fall rehearsals begin on Tuesday following the Labor Day Holiday. • Wednesdays — A Close-Knit Faith Community is an interdenominational group of knitters and crocheters who gather each Wednesday morning, from 9:30-11:30 a.m., to meditate on Scripture as they knit for charity. • Third Thursday — Conway Regional Rehabilitation Hospital has begun a support group for individuals who have experienced strokes. The Stroke Support Group is open to all stroke survivors and caregivers and will meet in the hospital classroom at noon the third Thursday of each month, beginning March 21. On that day, Gina Sifford, community resource specialist with the Division of Aging and Adult Services, will discuss options for long term care. For more information call 501-514-4925.
• Third Thursday — Survivors After Life Altering Disabilities Support Group will meet the third Thursday at noon at a new location — the Conway Regional Rehabilitation Hospital, located at 2210 Robinson west of Stoby’s restaurant.
