Hendrix sets baseball camps
Hendrix College will host a baseball camp for youngsters, ages 6-13, March 20-22, at Warrior Field.
The camp will be conducted from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily. Instruction will be in all fundamentals of baseball and will be done by the Hendrix baseball staff and team. Cost is $99 per person and includes a T-shirt. It is $79 for an additional sibling.

UCA’s Armstrong gets another honor
For the second straight week, the University of Central Arkansas’ Kelsie Armstrong has been named the Southland Conference’s Pitcher of the Week for softball. This marks the sixth time that Armstrong has earned the honor.
In helping the Bears to a 4-1 record last week, Armstrong went 3-0. She went the distance in all three to push her total to 12 complete games in 13 starts. Over the three starts, and one relief appearance, Armstrong totaled 20.1 innings pitched and struck out 17 batters while giving up only one run for an ERA of 0.34. Opposing batters managed 10 hits off of Armstrong for a batting average of .145. She had two one-hitters.
Field hockey players get academic honors
Seven members of the 2012 Hendrix College Field Hockey team were named to the Gladiator/NFHCA National Academic Squad. The Warriors were also collectively earned the National Academic Team Award from the same organization for having a team grade-point average above 3.0.
Senior Kelly Rappe’ was named to the Squad for the fourth time in her career. Junior Elizabeth Lancaster was selected for the third time and sophomores Erika Jasso and Lauren Shklanko made the team for the second year in a row. Newcomers to the squad include sophomores Morgan Fires and Lotte Kraaijenbrink and freshman Mary Julia Emanuel.
Warriors 14th in Mississippi tourney
DELHI, La. — The Hendrix College men’s golf team opened their spring schedule, placing 14th at Mississippi College Spring Invitational at Black Bear Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday.
Fighting strong winds both days, the Warriors shot a 357-348-705.
Senior Michael Cathey led Hendrix with an 87-82-169, tying for 52nd. Junior Travis Weeks tied for 59th with an 87-87-174.
Sophomore John Weirich came in at 175, tying for 61st and sophomore Cory Ziegler tied for 76th.
McMurry won the event with 635 strokes. It was followed by UT Tyler (638), Mary Hardin-Baylor (640), Millsaps (643), Delta State (645), UT Dallas (647), Maryville (Mo.) (649), Texas Lutheran (652), Hardin-Simmons (654), Arkansas-Monticello (661), Centenary (La.) (667), Louisiana College (671), Mississippi College (676), Hendrix (705), LeTourneau (722), Maryville B (728) and Mississippi College B (730).
