Mrs. Merle Rose and Miss Carolyn Steen entertained the young people of their departments of the Presbyterian Sunday school with a “Chinese” party in the Sunday school building Friday evening. The most enjoyable feature of the evening was the talk by Mrs. Kirk T. Mosley, returned medical missionary from China, who was dressed in a costume of that country. She displayed many interesting souvenirs brought from China. Tea and cookies were served.

Sixteen Senior Girl Scouts of troops Nos. 312 and 207 are taking a Red Cross first aid course directed by Miss Claudia Kuykendall and members of the Red Cross first aid staff.
Girls participating are Evelyn Arendall, Patricia Daugherty, Catherine and Angela Grummer, Mary Ann Hiegel, Dee Kordsmeier, Mary Alice O’Dell, Mary Joe Simon, Nancy and Sharon Colquitt, Connie Curran, Carol and Anette Jarolim, Marilyn Nabholz, Theresa Simon and Regina Street.

Three Conway Scouting leaders were recently honored by the Quapaw Area Council of Boy Scouts of America at an annual recognition banquet.
Ted Hiegel received a Veteran Award of 50 years of Scouting, and Anthony and Ramona Sitz both received the Silver Beaver Award, the highest honor a local Scouting council can bestow for service to youth.
Sitz is Scoutmaster of Troop 71 of the Foothills District and Mrs. Sitz has been den leader coach for Foothills packs 71, 153 and 402.

Kristy McDonald of Morrilton received her crown as Miss University of Central Arkansas 2003 on Saturday. McDonald, 22-year-old daughter of Doyle and Tammy McDonald, will represent the university in the Miss Arkansas pageant, which will be held in June at the Hot Springs Convention Center.
