• March 3-9 — Rhea Lana’s of Conway — Arkansas’ Premier Children’s Consignment Event offering families the opportunity to buy, shop, and sell children’s clothing, toys and furniture. Conway Public Schools will benefit. The event will be held Sunday, March 3 through Saturday, March 9, at the Conway Expo Center, 2505 E. Oak Street, Highway 64 E. Admission and parking are free. • March 4 — The Alpha Iota chapter of Kappa Kappa Iota will meet at 6 p.m. at the home of Terri Seiter, 3300 Nutter Chapel Rd., Conway. The theme of the program will be “Easter Decor.” Assisting Mrs. Seiter as hostesses will be Karen Matthews and Linda Wall. • March 4 — The 16th Annual Women Can Run running and walking clinics kick off at 6:30 p.m. at the Four Winds Outreach Center, 2005 Dave Ward Dr., Conway. The first meeting is an orientation and all following meetings will be held every Monday and Thursday, 6:30 p.m. at the UCA track, located at the corner of Dave Ward Dr. and S. • March 7 — Free Adult Digital Literacy Classes will be held at the Faulkner County Library. The classes will focus on Internet and email basics. This program is funded through Connect Arkansas. Each class will last one hour, and classes will be held at 10 and 11 a.m., noon, 1 and 2 p.m. There is a limit of three people for each one hour class, and each student is provided with a computer. As part of that grant, Connect Arkansas launched the Adult Digital Literacy Program. All library events are free and open to the public.
• March 7 — Learn computer basics with instructor Katie Holder. Email Basics Class (10-11 a.m.; 11 a.m.-moon; noon-1 p.m.; 1-2 p.m.; 2-3 p.m.; 3-4 p.m.). This hands-on, 1 hour 1 class will cover how to set up an email account with a secure username and password as well as some Do’s and Don’t’s when using email. • March 7 — The Faulkner County Unit of Church Women United (CWU) Lenten Luncheon for the community at noon at First UMC, 1610 Prince St., Co-Host Christ Temple Holiness. Local pastors and lay persons will lead a devotional with scripture, prayer, and music. The luncheon will consist of soup, cornbread, drink, and dessert is provided for a suggested donation of $4 per person. • March 7 — The Second annual H.A.V.E.N. Mac-n-Cheese Please! event, 5 p.m., at Conway Country Club. This is a family friendly and very fun event benefiting H.A.V.E.N. (Help for Abuse Victims in Emergency Need) a residential shelter for abused girls ages 6-18 and a division of Counseling Assoc. • March 8 — Friends of the Faulkner County Libraries spring book sale from 6 to 8:30 p.m. You must join Friends to attend the sale, but you may join the night of the sale or before the sale at any county library. The Friends of Faulkner County Library System request book donations and Kroger bags for the paperback book sale. Books may be delivered to the main library at 1900 Tyler Street in Conway or to branch libraries in Greenbrier, Mayflower, Mt. Vernon, Twin Groves, and Vilonia. • March 8 and April 12 — Film & Discussion, 7 p.m.: “A Thief of Time”, Part 1, and “Assault on Time” at the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute, Legacy Theater. 1 Rockefeller Dr., 501-727-6250. A 45-minute film based on Tony Hillerman’s novel about looting of burial sites on the Navajo Reservation, and a 30-minute film about damage to sites in Arkansas and across the U.S. Films will be followed by discussion on issues of site looting and preservation, led by Dr. Ann Early, Arkansas State Archeologist. Film & Discussion: A Thief of Time, Part 2. Archeological exhibits and collections on display; demonstrations of early weaponry, including atlatl and blowgun; flintknapping; early firearms; costumed reenacter. • Weekdays — After School Program, 3:30-6 p.m. This free program is for ages 12-16 and provides a snack and programs in fitness, nutrition, safety, drug and alcohol awareness, career choices and even tutoring. • Daily — Alcoholics Anonymous meets at noon, daily at Grace United Methodist Church, Conway.
• Sundays — Bearers of Light, a free support group for families that have experienced pregnancy loss, stillbirth or newborn death, meets the second Sunday of each month. The support group is an extension of the Resolve Through Sharing bereavement program at Conway Regional. The perinatal bereavement program is designed to addresses a family’s individual needs through supportive care in the hospital as well as follow-up care. Bearers of Light is a parent-led, self-help group guided by professionals who attend the meetings to provide information and facilitate group discussion. • Tuesdays — Conway Women’s Chorus begins its seventh year of music, fun and fellowship. If you have basic music reading skills, like music from classical to Motown and everything in between, this is the group for you. Fall rehearsals begin on Tuesday following the Labor Day Holiday. Rehearsals are every Tuesday with 7 p.m. sectionals and 7:30-8:30 chorus. The first three rehearsals are open. • Last Tuesday — Parent support group for the Dyslexia Project will meet the last Tuesday of every month at 7:30 p.m. Topics may include: how to help your child with spelling, how to get a 504 plan, etc. The group is set up to learn from each other and support each other through the coming years. • Wednesdays — A Close-Knit Faith Community is an interdenominational group of knitters and crocheters who gather each Wednesday morning, from 9:30-11:30 a.m., to meditate on Scripture as they knit for charity. All skill levels are encouraged to participate in making lap-robes, hats and baby items which are then blessed and distributed to local agencies. Patterns, some yarns and tools are available. • Third Thursday — Conway Regional Rehabilitation Hospital has begun a support group for individuals who have experienced strokes. The Stroke Support Group is open to all stroke survivors and caregivers and will meet in the hospital classroom at noon the third Thursday of each month, beginning March 21.
