Mr. and Mrs. Opie Hartje were hosts to the Howell Duplicate Club for its regular meeting and games Saturday evening at their home on Ash Street. Vases of japonica blossoms brightened the interior and a dainty dinner menu in courses was served. Games were played during the evening and Mrs. James W. Byrd, Jr., and Miss Constance Mitchell were tied for women’s high score and Opie Hartje made high score for the men.

Miss Barbara Alice Zellner, of Greenbrier, is the bride-elect of Afton J. Simmons of Conway, son of Mr. and Mrs. D.O. Simmons of Texarkana.
Miss Zellner, a graduate of Greenbrier High School, is a sophomore at Central Baptist College.
The bridegroom-elect is a graduate of Vilonia High School and is now employed at the Veterans Hospital in North Little Rock.
The wedding will be solemnized at 7:30 p.m. March 12 in the Springhill Baptist Church. Friends of the couple are invited.

Conway author Edith M. Dean has signed a contract accepting an offer to write regularly for Guideposts magazine. On one of her current assignments, she will be working with Georg Anderson of Conway, with whom she wrote the book, “Interior Decorating: A Reflection of the Creator’s Design.”
Guideposts is an inspirational magazine published in New York.
Mrs. Dean said she expects her first article for Guideposts to published in June The working title of the article is “The Other Side of Faith.”

Associates of the Walmart Supercenter on Harkrider Street recently presented the National Federation of the Blind organization with a $1,000 grant as part of the company’s Bonus Grant program. Manager Jamie Bray made the donation to Tim Milliron, who represented the National Federation of the Blind.
