Students to be honored atPittsb-Delph luncheon

The Conway Athletic Awards Commission has announced the recipients of the annual Marvin Delph Student-Athlete Awards.

The awards are presented to several male and female eighth-graders from Conway’s public and private schools.

The students are: Futra Banks, Alyssa Wells, Beau Hadley and Erik Webster from Conway Junior High School Blue team; Savannah Lowe, Sydney Hawkins, McCall Dail, and Nicollus Fletcher from Conway Junior High School White team; Amber Briggler and Noah Bray from St. Joseph Catholic School; and Adrianna Ferrand and Cameron Horton from Conway Christian School.

Hendrix swim coach Jim Kelly will be honored with the 2012 Elijah Pitts Award for career achievement. UCA volleyball coach David McFatrich will be honored with the Marvin Delph Award for Sportsman of the Year while UCA basketball standout Megan Herbert will be honored with the Marvin Delph Award for Sportswoman of the Year.

All awards will be presented February 17, at a luncheon at Central Baptist College’s Mabee Student Center beginning at noon.

Tickets are available by calling 450-6888. Proceeds from this year’s banquet will go toward the Conway Noon Lions Club for their efforts to provide glasses and eye exams for persons in Faulkner County who could not afford them. Tickets to the luncheon will also be good for admission to the Lions Club charity basketball game that evening with the Harlem Ambassadors.
