New Beginning

BY DIANE ROBINSON

Sorry, there hasn’t been an article for awhile, but the holidays and the loss of my cousin Jimmy Johnston and a dear friend Lavina Lewis kept me busy in December.

We have had great service’s and wonderful messages from Pastor Bob. This past Sunday our message was taken from Mark 1:40-44 and Romans 6:12-16. Romans 6:12 and 14 “Let not sin therefore, reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in its lusts.” “For sin shall not have dominion over you; for ye are not under the law but under grace.”

My prayer for this year, Jesus, let me be always ready to give you the gift of my self, my heart, my mind, my body, my actions, my prayers, my faith, my love. I am also praying that more people this year will give their hearts to the Lord and be faithful to Him and to church.

We have had many who have been sick this past month and we are praying that this flu and virus season will leave and everyone will find health again.

Thanks to Pat Strough who will be leading our ladies group this year. She has lots of great things planned for us all. Our first meeting will be Feb. 2 and everyone is welcome. I also want to express my thanks for Jim and Pat Strough for becoming a part of our church and helping us with praise and worship.

“When, my soul is weary my faith tends to falter, then I hear your voice Lord, saying, press on, press on!”

It was exciting to have our Wednesday night activities back on schedule after the change for the Christmas holidays. We were happy to again have new students as well as some former regulars join us.

We appreciate all those who helped on Wednesday night. Nina Johnston and Janie McGaha prepared and served the food. I lead the worship in song. Diane Cummings and Davis Garrett always run the van route. David also teaches the youth while Diane and Misty Wilson teach the younger children. I enjoy working with the older children and have a fantastic group of kids!

Jim Johnston was experiencing problems with his voice therefore could not lead us in adult Bible study so Brother John Evans Jr. taught us. It was a great study filled with encouraging words.

Sunday night is our regularly scheduled business meeting. We have some very important things to discuss and decisions to make. We pray all who are interested in the future of the church will attend. We continue to pray for God’s guidance.

The men will meet for their monthly fellowship breakfast at 7:30 Sunday morning. This is a great time enjoyed by all who attend.

We have numerous people on our prayer list. We are especially praying for Delores Haynes who has been hospitalized and is now in rehab, Richard Johnston, Margie Fulmer, Brother Jim Acklin, Sue Evans, Cassandra King, and many others.

We would love for you to join us for Sunday school at 10 and worship at 11 in the morning.
