(1938)

Bob Wood, artist and cartoonist, will present “Dramatic Adventures With Chalk,” at a student assembly to be held in Ida Waldran Memorial Chapel at the Arkansas State Teachers College Friday. This is the fourth of a series of lyceum numbers that are being given during the school year.

The esthetic side of the program is represented by beautiful sketches of “The Cremation of Sam McGehee,” “Skeleton in Armor,” “Flanders Field,” “My Old Kentucky Home,” etc.

50 years ago

(1963)

Stewart Prosser, Ray Tarkington and Roz Zincke will be ordained and installed as deacons in the First Presbyterian Church here tomorrow. Scott Hunter and Chester A. Munn will be installed as ruling elders.

Prosser, Tarkington, Hunter and Munn are in the class of 1966 and Zincke is of the class of 1965. Hunter and Munn have previously been ordained as ruling elders.

The five men were elected to their respective offices last fall.

Luke Payton Setzler, son of Mona Lou Setzler of Conway, recently completed the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) 11-week Air Traffic Control basic screening and course at the Federal Aviation Administration Academy at Oklahoma City.

Julia B. Hendrickson, William B. Sossamon and Leland H. Zimmerman of Conway were among certified public accountants and attorneys who attended the Arkansas Society of Certified Public Accountants Federal Tax Institute in December at the Doubletree Hotel in Little Rock. All are members of the state organization.
