Bethlehem Baptist Church

Seems like the old devil got his jab in on Bethlehem in the form of a lightening strike this past Tuesday. The main hit was in the sound loft taking out the computer, most of the sound equipment, TV equipment, all of the security cameras and other incidentals. Thank goodness it did not spark a fire.

December is shaping up to be a busy month for Bethlehem members and guests.

Events are as listed:

Tonight the Young Adult and Young Couples classes will be having their Christmas Party in the Family Life Center at 6 p.m. They invite all in this age group to attend and enjoy the fellowship, whether you are attending Sunday School or not, or if you have been visiting Bethlehem. The menu is soups and desserts and there will be a “white elephant’ gift exchange.

The GMA and Galilean’s Christmas party is tomorrow evening at 6 p.m. in the Family Life Center.

Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. the Senior Adult Class will have their Christmas party at China Town in Conway. There will be the traditional “white elephant” (not a new gift) gift exchange. Also anyone in this age group is invited to attend.

The Sanctuary Choir will be presenting “Silent Night, Holy Night” in the morning service Dec. 16. Sunday evening the Children’s Choir will present “Just A Little Christmas.”

Before the message titled “Peace” delivered by Brother John Evans Jr. Sunday morning I sung “I Wonder as I Wander”. Our worship music was led by David Garrett.

Brother John said our relationship with Christ should bring us peace. First we must have inward spiritual peace. This must take place before peace can come to the world. The world doesn’t know the inward peace that many have. Why does peace allude us? Because we’re searching in the wrong places. We have visions of escaping certain things to find peace. If we could just change circumstances, jobs, the problems of life then we would have peace. Christ faced the difficulties of life yet had peace. How do we find that peace that passes understanding?

We can know the peace of adequate resources because God can supply ALL our needs. Paul faced challenges at every turn yet he had peace. Christ On the cross had peace because He knew His Father had the resources to meet His needs. We must have faith that God can supply our needs in any situation.

We can know the peace of a clean heart. Sin keeps us from having peace. If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. When sin stands between us and God it robs us of our joy. When we go to Him He cleanses us from all unrighteousness. With nothing standing between God and us we now have peace.

We can know the peace that comes from the gift of fellowship with God. We can have peace of a relationship with God that the world can’t touch. Are you at peace with God?

We were pleased to have several new children Wednesday night. We’re working on music to present at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 19, during our “Happy Birthday Jesus” party. The adults will join the children in celebration around the Angel Tree.

Tomorrow morning the men will have a fellowship breakfast beginning at 7. All men are invited.

The ladies progressive luncheon and ornament exchange is scheduled for Dec. 16 immediately following the morning worship service. Ladies should bring an ornament to exchange.

Our next business meeting will be at 6 p.m. tomorrow.

We still have several ornaments on the Angel Tree. We pray the Lord leads you to select one and purchase a gift for one of our children who attend on Wednesday night.

May we be filled with Christ’s peace and love and share it during this blessed season.
