Complimenting Mrs. Walter May of Canton, Ohio, who is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George P. Carter, Mrs. C.W. Jones entertained a group of her friends with a social party Monday evening at her home on Caldwell Street. Autumn berries and foliage brightened the interior where many delightful old-fashioned games were played during the evening and at the close Mrs. Jones served a dainty salad course with ice cream and cake. She presented a gift to the honoree.

Miss Edye Addington, Miss Arkansas 1962, presented a sheet of 1962 Christmas Seals to Mrs. Maggie Griffith, Christmas Seal chairman, and H.H. Bumpers, president of Faulkner County Tuberculosis Association. The 56th Annual Christmas Seal Campaign opened this week and will run through December.

Airman Barry Veazey, son of Geneva L. Anderson and Dennis P. Veazey, both of Greenbrier, recently graduated from an Air Force vehicle equipment course at Chaute Air Force Base, Ill.

During the course, students received instruction in inspection and repair of vehicle equipment and operation of special tools and testing equipment.

Mayor Tab Townsell presented keys to the city to three Conway police officers during a City council meeting. The officers, Tony Ryken, Stephen Cupp and Derald Neugebauer, were stationed in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula for six months as members of the National Guard.

Arkansas girl found dead after mom, great-uncle killed

MENA (AP) — One of two Arkansas siblings reported missing after their mother’s body was discovered in a creek was found dead on Friday, a day after another relative was found dead, and teams are still searching for the other child, investigators said.
