The Rev. Anthony Lachowsky, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and a large number of his congregation attended the dedicatory services at Morrilton when the new St. Anthony’s Hospital was dedicated with solemn ceremonies by Bishop John B. Morris of Little Rock.
The Lions Club “just about broke even” Saturday night when they sponsored a barber shop singing concert at Staples Auditorium, Raymond L. Price, president, said today.
Price said the program was not intended to be a money-making project, but rather to introduce to Conway this type of singing. The club plans to present it again next year if the response is sufficient.
Door prizes were won by Catherine Sroufe, E.A. Cornell, Mrs. C.R. Loyd and Felix Balmaz, who won two door prizes.
David Martin of Conway killed a 8-point buck recently during bow hunting season at the Camp Robinson Wildlife Management Area. He shot the deer with a Browning Bow at 22 yards.
Congressman Vic Snyder spoke at the ground breaking ceremony on Thursday afternoon for the new Army Reserve Center, which will replace the facility located at the University of Central Arkansas. The center, located at Thomas Wilson Drive and E.W. Martin Drive, will house B Company 489th Engineer Battalion and include classrooms, administrative offices, a library, learning center, assembly hall, arms vault, and unit storage and parking for military vehicles. The expected date for completion is the spring of 2004.
