Church Briefs Nov. 2

The Women’s Department of Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist Church, located at 8112 Bicentennial Road in Maumelle, will host its Hat Show and Brunch on Saturday, Nov. 3, from 10 a.m. to noon. On Sunday, Nov. 4, the celebration will continue with the Seventh Annual Women’s Day worship service at 9 a.m. The Theme for the weekend is “It’s all in the Family,” based on Ruth 1:16. Sis. Girtrude Simmons, First Lady of Berean Disciple Church, North Little Rock, Ark., will be the guest speaker. She is known for her practical teaching approach to the Bible and has encouraged many believers to pursue a stronger, more personal relationship with God through bible study and discipleship training. Sis. Simmons and her husband, Pastor Billy Simmons, reside in North Little Rock. The Rev. James E. Mackey is the host pastor. For more information, contact Sis. Lorie Williams at 501-472-5085. Sis. Beryl Baptist Church will host the Southern Gospel singing group The Representatives during its 11 a.m. service, Sunday, Nov. 4.

The Christ Temple Holiness Church will be hosting revival services beginning at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4, through Wednesday, Nov. 7, with Elder Gervis D. Kendrick, Founder and Pastor of NU-Season Ministries, Church of Christ (Hol.) U.S.A., Clinton, Miss., as evangelist.

As a lifelong member within the Church of Christ (Hol.) U.S.A., Elder Gervis has held numerous positions; including South Mississippi District Sunday School & H.Y.P.U. President, Jackson and Terry District H.Y.P.U. and Brotherhood Presidents, and National Sunday School & H.Y.M. coordinator; he has also served as a volunteer chaplain for Jackson Police Department. He is currently serving as District Chairman for the Central Mississippi District. Pastor Kendrick has served in his pastoral calling for more than 24 years. He holds a Bachelor of Biblical Studies degree, from Christ Missionary and Industrial College.

Pastor Kendrick has been married for 27 years to wife Deborah; they are the parents of three sons, two daughters and one grandson.

First Baptist Church of Mayflower will hold a revival Sunday through Wednesday, Nov. 4-7. Services begin at 7 p.m. Guest speaker is Doug Compton with special music led by Kyle McNutt. The public is invited.

Naylor United Methodist Church will be hosting a Fall Festival from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10.

The festival will include free games for children, a bake sale that will benefit the Naylor Community Veterans Memorial, and a drawing for a family turkey dinner.

The church is located on Highway 36 in Naylor, Ark. The church pastor is the Rev. Luke Parker.
