Well the year 2013 is rapidly approaching, and we have only 67 days left in 2012.
If you are like me, you made quite a list of vows in 2012, especially at the beginning of 2012.
Here are some things that were on my list. First, I vowed to put and keep God first every day of my life. I vowed not to live to eat; but rather to eat to live, I vowed to Love myself — not selfishly, there must be a balance — but the way God intended for us to love ourselves, so just because one of my ears is bigger than the other, doesn’t mean that God made a mistake — God says that we are fearfully and wonderfully made, and I believe him. I vowed to love and obey my husband, in sickness and in health, till death do us part — and I know that God and my husband are both waiting to witness the second part of this vow completely materialize, hey, I still have 67 days left to work on it — I vowed not to try to take over raising my grandchildren; I vowed to lose weight, to make new friends, to not be over-controlling, to accept what I can’t change, and to change what I can. I vowed to accept constructive criticism for just what it is, constructive, not destructive, and to keep in mind that it’s only making me a better person. I have vowed to love people that make it hard to love them.
I vowed to forgive others, and to keep in mind that I also want to be forgiven.
So now that I’ve divulged some of my vows to others, and I have refreshed my own memory; I’ll take this opportunity to renew my vows. I’ve got to renew them because — this will be hard to believe — but I haven’t accomplished a lot of them.
So I will renew (repeat, restart, rekindle and revitalize) them today, I’ll not wait until Dec. 31, 2012. This will give me the jump start that I will need to undertake and accomplish my vows.
As long as I hold fast to my first vow, which is to make and keep God first in my life — no matter what I may have to face, or what distractions may come my way — he will help me accomplish the rest of my vows. So why start tomorrow, when you can start today?
