Conway’s Mary Michael Maggio finished third recently in the Mercedes Benz Women’s Intercollegiate Golf Tournament at the University of Tennessee.
The victory came a week after the Texas A&M senior, the Big 12 champion last year, won the Liz Murphy Fall Preview at the University of Georgia.
The Hendrix College volleyball program will be teaming with the Sideout Foundation to raise money for breast cancer research on Wednesday when it host Rhodes College at 7 p.m. for “Dig Pink” night.
All fans are encouraged to wear pink. Baked goods will be sold at the concession stand with proceeds going to the cause. Also, CherryBerry Yogurt Bar in Conway will donate 10 percent of all purchases to the Sideout Foundation.
The match is the final time Hendrix will be at home this season.
University of Central Arkansas placekicker Eddie Camara and wide receiver/return specialist Jesse Grandy were named the Southland Conference special teams and offensive players of the week, respectively, on Monday.
Camara, a sophomore from Cedar Hill, Texas, kicked the game-winning and career-long 47-yard field goal with just 23 seconds left to lift the Bears to a 27-26 win at No. 15 McNeese State. Camara also had a 41-yard field goal in the first half and was three for three on point-afters in the game.
Grandy, a senior from Pine Bluff, finished with 189 all-purpose yards in the victory. He caught four passes for 93 yards and two touchdowns, rushed two times for 16 yards and totaled 80 yards in kickoff/punt returns. His touchdown catches covered 36 and 33 yards. Grandy also was special teams player of the week earlier this season.
The Bears have had eight players of the week during the 2012 season.
