Have you ever felt like your life was out of balance? Maybe, like you were walking on a tightrope. “Tightrope walking is the art of walking along a thin wire that is tensioned between two points, usually at a great height, while maintaining your balance,” (Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia).
The key to walking on a tightrope is keeping your balance — to which I must confess — I have not always done. I have fallen onto the net that was placed under me — by God of course — many times over; and I thank God I survived the falls. Trying to have a balanced life, while also trying to squeeze everything into its rightful place; and carefully keep it in the specified time bracket that has been allotted; can bring on lots of tension and stress. Although it appears that some have mastered tightrope walking, and are very balanced, I can assure you that it may be only an appearance, which can only last for a certain amount of time, then comes the fall. Hey, don’t be ashamed it happens to all of us; just go ahead, free fall, and let the net catch you, get up, confide in the Lord about how it made you feel to fall, let him dust you off, wipe your tears away, and then you start all over again.
Sometimes we try so hard to make life work, and to bring balance to our own lives, that we sometimes forget the key element to a well-balanced life; yes I know that we can go and get massages, foot rubs, manicures, pedicures, Hot Springs bath houses, golfing, fishing and whatever else suits our fancy; but the truth is, Jesus is the greatest tension and stress reliever that man will ever experience. He teaches us how to balance life, and experience true happiness, serenity and peace; to which we will never truly experience outside of him.
