Community Corner Oct. 6

Posted: October 5, 2012 - 4:18pm

Centerville United Methodist Church will host their 3rd Annual Communion by the Lake Service this Sunday, Oct. 7, at Woolly Hollow State Park. Church service will begin at 9 a.m. at the pavilion. After our service, we will have a potluck cook out. I have already checked the weather forecast and was pleased to see that Sunday will be nice and cool. This is a great opportunity to visit with our church family while the kids run around and play so I hope to see a big crowd.

There are a couple of events coming up next week end in our wonderful community. The Centerville Volunteer Fire Department will host a pie supper on Saturday, Oct. 13, between 4-6 p.m. The pie supper is free and will be held at the Centerville Fire Station on Blythe Road. There will be door prizes for all ages and everyone is welcome. Pies will be provided by ladies in the Centerville community and it would be a good opportunity to showcase a favorite recipe if you want to bring one to share. Also next weekend, the Faulkner County Singing Club will meet at Centerville United Methodist Church at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14. This is where the singing began and it is always a special day when Centerville gets to host the event.

I have a couple of special prayer requests. My aunt, Frances Hall, has been going through some medical difficulties and needs prayers right now. Rick Spear, a longtime family friend, has also been having health troubles and doctors are trying to figure how to fix him up. Both Frances and Rick are dear to me and I hope they get to feeling better quick.
