Theodore Thessing announces the engagement and approaching marriage of his daughter, Gertrude, to Paul Finkbeiner of Pine Bluff. The wedding will be solemnized at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Henry Thessing of Dayton, Ohio, brother of the bride, officiating.
Trophy winners in the cattle and horse divisions at last week’s Faulkner County fair displayed their wares after receiving the awards from C. Homer Jones, Faulkner Fair Manager. A.C. Shofner of Damascus, senior beef; Mary Jo Butler of Holland, junior beef; Jerry Henderson of Greenbrier, junior dairy; Jean Hartwick, held the quarterhorse trophy won by her father, Lyman Hartwick of Conway, and Bill Andrews, held the Shetland pony trophy won by Buck Brown of Conway; and H.J. Wasson of Erwin Farms, was the winner of the senior diary trophy. First National Bank presented the cattle division trop hies and Faulkner Fair Association for horse show trophies.
William A. Haygood of Conway and Michael N. Stage of Greenbrier have been promoted to the rank of senior airman in the Arkansas Air National Guard.
Haygood is a member of the 189th Consolidated Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Little Rock Air Force Base. Stage is a member of the 154th Weather Flight at Camp Robinson.
Brandon Kellar has accepted the position as youth and family minister at the Four Winds Church.
Kellar, originally form Virginia, has lived with his family in Searcy for the last two years.
He has taken a semester off from his studies at Harding University as a music major to move to Conway and work full time for the church.
