The Conway Noon Rotary Club met at the Conway Country Club on Thursday, Sept. 13, to honor First Responders of the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office, Conway Police Department and the Conway Fire Department. Those receiving the awards were Deputy Everett Young of the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office, Officer Gordon Ball of the Conway Police Department, and Engineer Billie Carter of the Conway Fire Department. Each recipient was presented the award by their commanding officer.
First responders are those who place themselves in threatening situations every day in order to maintain the peace and save lives. Over the years, many first responders have given their lives in the line of duty.
The Conway Noon Rotary Club believes in “SERVICE ABOVE SELF” and commissioned the award given to a deserving representative from each of the three departments. The Conway Rotary Club selected the winners after receiving three nominations by their commanding officers. Rik Sowell, President of the Conway Noon Rotary Club, said following the presentation of awards, “These men represent the commitment and dedication of all first responders in Conway and Faulkner County. The Rotary Club is incredibly proud of their service. We are honored to let them know how much we appreciate them and their unrelenting and unselfish desire to keep us safe.”
Members of the Conway Noon Rotary Club, just as all members of Rotary International the world over, live by the principles laid out in our “4-way Test.” Of all the things we say and do: Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
