Town hall meeting touts environment at Hendrix

Posted: September 13, 2012 - 6:05pm

Dozens of local residents turned out Tuesday to Hendrix College for a town hall meeting on the energy future of Arkansas, according to a news release from Sierra Club.

The Sierra Club and the Environmental Concerns Committee, a student group at Hendrix College, hosted the community forum, focusing on the five-year “Energy Plan” for the state that is being developed by Gov. Mike Beebe’s administration.  Tuesday night’s meeting represents the third in a series of statewide public meetings organized by the Sierra Club to gather input from Arkansas residents.

The meeting featured a panel of speakers, including Dr. Stella Capek, Professor of Sociology at Hendrix College, Rev. Stephen Copley with Arkansas Interfaith Power and Light and April Ambrose, Sustainability Consultant with Viridian Energy, a clean energy provider.

What you see was a NON-publicized meeting and if your interested in the environment I suggest you go over and spend some "quaily" time in the Burdick Building @ UCA

I do like how their sprinklers in the median soak the inside lanes of Harkrider, that's a good example of water conservation during a drought.

Hey...

..asphalt is expensive. Why buy more when you can simply water what you have and watch it grow?

Sierra Club

If you'd like more information on the forum and environmental issues, you should probably contact the Sierra Club that hosted the event. Unfortunately, there were two conflicting meetings (Conway Public Schools and a government meeting) and no reporter could attend this forum.

Yep...

...am I the only one who's noticed that since Scarlet has started posting that sylviat hasn't been posting?

Oh well, I guess some folks just don't have a sense of humor.

What's really funny though is that water conservation has always been a big issue with environmentalist. Gotta love those who want to tell everyone else to avoid doing something when they do the same thing themselves.
