Church Briefs Sept. 7

The Faulkner County Singing Club will be performing at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, at Oakland United Methodist Church at Holland located on Highway 287. The group will be singing Gospel convention music. Church Pastor is Donna Alberts.

The club meets each second Sunday of each month at various churches in Faulkner County. Shelby Sawrie of Greenbrier is the club president.

St. Joseph Church at 1115 College Ave. in Conway is offering a special program designed to help non-practicing Catholics return to the Church. Entitled Catholics Returning Home, this series take place every Thursday evening from Sept. 13 through Oct. 18. Sessions begin at 7 p.m. and conclude at 8:30 p.m. They will be held in the Parish Administration Office Conference Room.

The six-week series includes such topics as: The Church Today, Explanation of the Mass, Explanation of the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and Explanation of the Nicene Creed. The sessions are free and childcare will be provided.

True Holiness Saints Center Inc. will hold its third annual “Musician Appreciation Concert” held in honor of Tommy Mason Jr. at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9.

Mason, 25, is a graduate from the University of Central Arkansas and has served as minister of music for True Holiness Saints Center since Jan. 1, 2009.

Special musical guests include Zion Temple COGIC, Psalms 150, Pleasant Branch Baptist Church, Mt. Gale and Mason’s home church, United Baptist Church.

Beth Moore Bible Study, James: Mercy Triumphs, will begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Greenbrier Church of the Nazarene.

The eight-week small group sessions will be held at 9 a.m. each Tuesday.
