17-year-old girl reports rape by UCA student

Posted: September 5, 2012 - 8:01pm

Police at the University of Central Arkansas are investigating after a 17-year-old girl reported she was raped while visiting apartments on Elizabeth Street on Saturday, according to a UCA police report.

According to the report, the girl told an officer she was raped at about 1:30 Saturday. She reported the incident about 24 hours later at 1:33 a.m. Sunday. The girl was interviewed in North Little Rock, according to the report.

The man the girl said raped her is a UCA student, said Arch Jones, organizational and community services director. He said the suspect is an acquaintance of the girl but would not elaborate on the circumstances.

The case is ongoing and police have interviewed the suspect, Jones said. No arrests have been made or charges filed, he said.

The investigation marks the second time UCA police have responded to rape allegations this year, Jones said. Police responded to another reported rape this past March.

That case remains under investigation, but police have turned the case over to the prosecutor’s office, Jones said. No charges have been filed yet, he said.

This is such a disgrace, that

This is such a disgrace, that a man would force himself upon a young girl. I think the punishment for that type of crime should be much more severe than what it is today; they should be forced to pay for their abuse and crime by losing the desire to ever have sexual relations again! I'm just sayin!
