Taipei Director General and Ambassador Daniel Liao will present a lecture, “Taiwan Update,” in the College of Business Auditorium at UCA at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Liao has served many positions including ambassador to Tuvalu, section chief in the Department of African Affairs, deputy director general with the Department of International Organizations and the councilor and charge d’affaires to the Commonwealth of Dominica.

He currently serves as the director general of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Houston, Texas. Ambassador Liao is a graduate of Pacific State University and National Cheng Kung University.

Liao will discuss the current political, cultural and economic situation in Taiwan. He will also discuss the relationship between Taiwan and Arkansas — Arkansas exported $7.09 million in agriculture products to Taiwan in 2011. Taiwan is Arkansas’ 13th largest export market.

A reception will follow the presentation. This event is free and open to the public. Seating is limited. Early arrival is encouraged.
